Leadership that balances strategy and creative.

Tim Howell, Marketing Strategy

Tim Howell started in the high-technology business in 1988 with NEC Home Electronics' PC division. At NEC he worked with resellers and regional distributors marketing and selling monitors, laptops and optical media products throughout Arizona and San Diego, California. After changes in NEC's corporate structure, Tim became responsible for regional sales of an increased line of NEC's products that included laptops, desktops, monitors, optical media, printers and servers. After NEC, Tim became Director of Marketing of FastMicro, a direct marketer of computers and peripheral products. At FastMicro, he was an integral part of the management team that grew sales from $20 million to $90 million in just 1 1/2 years.

After FastMicro, Tim went to Lotus Development to manage the relationship with Merisel - Lotus' second biggest customer. It was at Lotus that he envisioned a better way to market Lotus' products to resellers. Tim then joined a small agency (the progenitor of Binary Pulse) and helped transform it into the type of firm that he was looking for - creative, fast and cost-effective. Lotus was the first client of this new firm and remains a client today.

Tim graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He currently resides in Corona Del Mar, California with his wife and daughter.

Drew Mehl, Creative Direction

Drew Mehl has more than 18 years of experience in the B2B ad agency business. Entering the creative arena as a copywriter, Drew's pre-Binary Pulse life was spent with two Phoenix-based agencies: The Barish Agency, and Gen X Advertising. At the Barish Agency, Drew was responsible for marketing strategies and copy development for a range of companies spanning several high-tech industries, including midrange computing, computer training software, optical recognition hardware, medical equipment and power/utilities. After a period of time, Drew recognized an opportunity for the creation of an un-agency. He formulated a plan to establish a firm dedicated to the client, where the typical ad agency attitude and hype was traded in for premium creative, hard work and honesty. The result was Gen X Advertising. A self-started enterprise, Gen X grew to service clients in the high tech arenas of quality control software, telecommunications and environmental testing equipment.

In 1996, Drew took this experience and business approach to Hurt/Scott Technology Marketing - the forerunner of Binary Pulse. Hired as Creative Director, he found an instant connection with his business philosophy and work ethic. He helped cement an approach to design that emphasizes creativity while never losing focus on customer service. In 1998, Drew became a 50% shareholder and co-principal with Tim Howell and re-launched the agency as Binary Pulse Technology Marketing, helping create an agency and design firm unlike any other servicing high-tech industries.

Drew graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He currently resides in Irvine, California with his wife and two daughters.
